The Google Story
When the internet was booming, searching and indexing quickly became a huge task which needed to be commercialized due to the driving force behind the internet as we know it, the .COM - or COMMERCIAL. Universities quickly commercialized their search indexes, such as MIT's Northern Light, by far the largest directory of indexed web sites and information available. The .com boom produced as much venture capital as quacks touting the future of the internet which will be based on 'meaning' - searches will no longer be about bits and bytes but will search for 'meaning' in the words. How?
After the market shakeout, Northern Light decided, unfortunately, to privatize their information which now is no longer public domain. At this time Microsoft was creating the MSN network looking to get into the internet market, after their slam dunk destroying Netscape and monopolizing the browser market, and defeating anti-trust lawsuits. But Microsoft was too exposed to control the software market and the internet, so the powers to be created Google, which ultimately became the only place to search on the net.
Google is the destruction of the internet, or at least the idealism that the internet would be of any use. First think about how useless Google is. You are not searching for what you want to know, you are searching for what you want to buy. Not only does Google hit you up with their own 'ads' from ad partners, the top 10 search links are almost always identical to those in the 'Google ads' section. This implies that these 'ad partners' are paying into the Google racket to get top listed.

Other searches may trick you into thinking you are searching the net when in fact you are actually searching Google.

I was first suspicious of Google when I couldn't find what I was looking for. Honestly I used Google for years and was not excited about it, I just thought it gave me the best answers; and officially they have the largest index. Suddenly, when I was searching for information about how a pump works, I found 100 places to buy a pump. This coincided with Google's IPO and also an article in Playboy about the 2 Russian-Americans (persons of Israeli citizenship) who apparantly invented Google. Then I read in business trade mag's like "The Deal" and others that there are a slew of VC firms lining up to invest in Google competition, now that their business plan has been laid out and the road carved.
Upon the release of their stock, the fraud reports started coming. One said it was the worst IPO in the history of the exchange, and most issues still as of today are unresolved. Does the Google team NOT CARE? Are they controlled by a higher force, or just a bunch of idiots? Does it make any difference?
Google claims in their Playboy article their modus operandi is DONT BE EVIL. Unless I miss a large philosophical point, it seems they could not be any more evil. They are robbing us and future generations of information and internet architecture, productivity, money, ... I suppose it could be worse when Google starts supporting neo-nazi political factions.
It is NOT the fault of Google for allowing this to happen, it is the fault of US, who USE GOOGLE. There are plenty of healthy alternatives to google, but beware search engines who are actually searching GOOGLE to give you answers.
